Practice Limited to Surgery

Kendra Eginton, DVM, MPH

Dr. Kendra Eginton grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota and followed her dreams of working with exotic viruses to the University of California at Santa Barbara where she received a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology in 2009. She then earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from St. George's University in Grenada, West Indies, with clinical training back home at the University of Minnesota. Unable to fully give up on viruses, she enrolled in the dual-degree DVM/Masters of Public Health track, taking additional courses in epidemiology and health systems along with her vet classes. For her Master’s practicum, she spent three months at the US Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Disease (USAMRIID) studying Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis virus. She graduated magna cum laude from veterinary school and summa cum laude from the graduate program in public health and was inducted into both the Phi Zeta honor society for veterinary medicine and the Delta Omega honor society in public health.

Dr. Eginton returned to the University of Minnesota for a one year small animal rotating internship. She then completed three year-long specialty internships in small animal surgery before returning again to Minnesota for a three-year residency. During her residency, Dr. Eginton won the 2022 Mark S. Bloomberg Resident Research Award at the World Veterinary Orthopaedic Congress for her abstract investigating how the pressures beneath splint bandages change when a different person replaces the bandage. She also published a scientific paper on the costs associated with different treatments for hip osteoarthritis in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association (JAVMA). In addition to teaching student laboratories for surgical skills, She served several times as Chief Resident on the Orthopedic Surgery service.

Dr. Eginton’s surgical interests are diverse, ranging from general abdominal surgery to orthopedic and neurologic procedures, including minimally invasive techniques like arthroscopy, laparoscopic spays and liver biopsies. She approaches each case with careful consideration, ensuring that every option is discussed with clients to provide the best care possible for their pets. She is excited to be in sunny Melbourne, and to be joining the ASEC Brevard team.

Dr. Eginton lives with her partner, Cody, and their two dogs, Blueberry, whom she adopted during her veterinary studies in Grenada, and Pickle, an adopted stray from Trinidad and Tobago. In her free time, she enjoys reading, exploring nature, fencing, swimming, and weightlifting. She also plays the bass guitar and donates platelets.
