Surgery may seem intimidating, but we're here to support you and your pet through every stage—from assessment to recovery. Our team, led by Dr. Kendra Eginton, offers thorough veterinary emergency and referral surgical services, delivered with compassionate care.

Multimodal Analgesia

As part of performing intensive surgical procedures, Dr. Eginton uses multiple analgesic drugs (pain medications) affecting different parts of the pain pathway simultaneously to improve the comfort of my patients. This often allows for use of less anesthetic gas and less total drugs during surgery, as well as keeping pets comfortable on the table and afterwards in recovery. Some examples of these are:

  • Constant-rate IV infusions (CRIs) of drugs

  • Local/Regional anesthetic blocks

  • Epidural analgesia

  • Incisional long-lasting local anesthetics

  • Splenectomy using the LigaSure device

  • Adrenalectomy (no pheochromocytomasat this time)

  • Exploratory Laparotomy and liver biopsies

  • Cholecystectomy (removal of the gallbladder)

  • Liver Lobectomy

  • Portosystemic shunt (PSS) attenuation

  • Abdominal lymph node removal

GI Surgery

Bowel Obstructions

  • Gastrotomy (removal of foreign material from the stomach)

  • Enterotomy (removal of foreign material from the intestine)

  • Resection and Anastomosis (removal of a non-viable or obstructed segment of bowel)

GI Biopsies for investigation of bowel disease

Gastropexy

  • Elective at time of other procedure

  • As part of emergency surgery for GDV

Rectal Polyp Removal

Anal Sacculectomy (removal of the anal sacs)
